Greetings from your Kansas City CPCU Chapter:
This is just a brief note to let you know what we accomplished in 2019 and what we can look forward to in 2020!
Held Eight Chapter Events!
The Chapter held four Chapter lunches, which included an insurance trivia game in January; discussing ethical behavior in the insurance industry in March, risk management issues in May, and the impact of wildfires on the property insurance industry in September.
In addition, the Chapter supported three volunteer events. Chapter members volunteered at the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City in April and the Kansas City Pet Project in November. In addition, Chapter members volunteered their time at Giving the Basics in August. This organization provides personal care items not covered by government assistance programs, such as laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant and other personal care hygiene products.
Finally, the Chapter held a mid-summer networking event at a T-Bones game in July.
Conducted a Successful Insurance Festival in October at Children's Mercy Park!
The theme for this year’s Festival was Weathering the Storm. Bryan Busby (Meteorologist from KMBC 9 News) served as the keynote speaker and discussed weather patterns in the Kansas City area. We also heard from Paul Taylor (FEMA), who discussed disaster recovery; Patrick Owens (Farmers Insurance), who discussed CAT Claims and CAT Response; Andrew Peet (360 Globalnet), who discussed Claims Management; and Dan Lolli and Jeff Vogel (Sporting KC), who discussed risk management of Children's Mercy Park.
Increased Chapter Membership by 14% with 29 new CPCUs!
