On May 22, 2011, the world drastically changed for our neighbors to the south. Just 150 miles from Kansas City, an EF5 tornado with wind speeds exceeding 200 mph traveled approximately 40 minutes on the ground for over 22 miles. It caused 161 fatalities, over 1,150 injuries, and damage to over 500 business and 7,500 residential structures. The tornado was the deadliest in the U.S. since 1950, causing $2.8 billion (2011 USD) in damages.

The following song was written by our own Eric Nordman and was performed by a group called "The Perils", a local classic rock group made up of insurance professionals from the Kansas City Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters Society (CPCU). The video was prepared by Sara Robben and credits are listed at the end.
